PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Hanz Stokenhizer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and TJ Dillashaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Stokenhizer might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Lucky Bullets "Cross the Line". Dillashaw has chosen Jump Around-House of Pain as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 31 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hanz Stokenhizer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, TJ Dillashaw!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dillashaw forces Stokenhizer back against the cage and clinches.
Dillashaw is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Dillashaw fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Dillashaw jumps guard but Stokenhizer stands there with Dillashaw around his waist. Dillashaw gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hanz Stokenhizer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of TJ Dillashaw.
Dillashaw is looking to take this one to the mat.
Dillashaw tries to pull guard but Stokenhizer won't allow it.
Stokenhizer using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Dillashaw has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Dillashaw is trying to drag Stokenhizer to the mat but Stokenhizer just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dillashaw is trying to stand back up but Stokenhizer is controlling him
Dillashaw looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Stokenhizer perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Stokenhizer frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Dillashaw's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Dillashaw wants to control but Stokenhizer is having none of it.
Dillashaw holds on for dear life, controlling Stokenhizer's posture momentarily.

Dillashaw has given up his back here.
Stokenhizer tries to get the hooks in deep but Dillashaw pushed the leg off.
Stokenhizer has good solid back control here.
Dillashaw is trying to get back to his feet but Stokenhizer has full control of the position and if anything, Dillashaw has just worked his way into a worse spot.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Dillashaw pushes Stokenhizer up against the cage in a clinch.

Dillashaw has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Stokenhizer regains guard immediately.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dillashaw doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Stokenhizer counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Dillashaw!
Stokenhizer remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Dillashaw shoots in for a takedown but Stokenhizer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Dillashaw tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Stokenhizer.
Dillashaw is trying to control the action in half guard but Stokenhizer is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Stokenhizer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Stokenhizer tries to get out of the position.

Dillashaw works to advance to full mount. Stokenhizer defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Dillashaw is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Dillashaw sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Dillashaw lands a heavy elbow.

Dillashaw stands up from mount. Strange move.
Dillashaw has his takedown stuffed
and Stokenhizer counters with a slapping leg kick.
Dillashaw shoots in looking for a takedown but Stokenhizer manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Dillashaw's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Let's hope that Dillashaw has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hanz Stokenhizer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

TJ Dillashaw comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dillashaw has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
