PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ricson Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gracie might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The Black Eyed Peas - Pump It. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Drock Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gracie is defended easily by Lesnar.
Gracie tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lesnar sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gracie somewhat.
Lesnar closes the distance and clinches up with Gracie, looking for a takedown. Lesnar pushes Gracie against the cage but Gracie circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lesnar shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gracie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lesnar's waist but Lesnar gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gracie off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricson Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Lesnar clinches with his opponent.

Lesnar ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lesnar no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Lesnar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gracie lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Gracie is in close to Lesnar's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lesnar has momentary wrist control but Gracie slips an elbow through the middle.
Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gracie is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Gracie arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Lesnar's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!

During a confident post fight interview, Ricson Gracie thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
