The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jon throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Shambles tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jon is in Shambles's guard.
Shambles working for a triangle but Jon defends it easily.
My spies in Cozad The Island inform me that Jon has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Shambles is looking for a triangle but Jon pushes his legs off easily.
Shambles has his foot on Jon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jon works his way back into a safe position though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jon is posturing up here but Shambles has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Jon tries to roll out but it's too tight and Jon has to tap! Slick submission there by Shambles!
