Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Robertson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brodie OBrien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brandon Robertson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brandon Robertson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brodie OBrien!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
OBrien lands a right hook to the body.

OBrien drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Robertson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
OBrien stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Robertson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Robertson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
OBrien tries to hold on but Robertson postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
OBrien is working to get back to half guard.

Robertson get's back to his feet.

OBrien gets in close and instigates a clinch.

OBrien pulls Robertson into guard.
OBrien is adopting a defensive guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
OBrien looking for a sweep. Not yet OBrien, not yet.

Robertson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
OBrien misses with a few strikes there.

OBrien gets tackled into the cage by Robertson. Robertson maintains the clinch.

OBrien decides to pull guard.

OBrien working for submissions but it's allowed Robertson to get to half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Robertson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

OBrien drives through with a takedown into guard.
OBrien throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Robertson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
OBrien postures up in Robertson's guard and throws a big left but Robertson blocks it.
OBrien postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Robertson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as OBrien controls the pace.
OBrien trying to control the position from guard on top but Robertson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Robertson wants to sweep but no luck.
OBrien wants to pass the guard but Robertson is keeping the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Brodie OBrien hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
OBrien misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Robertson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Robertson moves into range and clinches up with OBrien.
Robertson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. OBrien smiles and moves away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OBrien changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Robertson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brodie OBrien dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Robertson looks to clinch
and OBrien counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Robertson moves in looking to clinch but OBrien pushes him off.
Brodie OBrien seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

OBrien closes the distance and clinches.
OBrien can't break the clinch.

OBrien turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and OBrien manages to end up in side control.
Robertson manages to get back to half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Robertson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
OBrien wants to pass the guard but Robertson is keeping the position.

OBrien stands up from Robertson's guard - OBrien perhaps looking for a knockout.
OBrien tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Robertson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
OBrien swats away the attempt to clinch by Robertson.

OBrien throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Robertson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. OBrien is in Robertson's guard.

Robertson is controlling OBrien's posture.
OBrien is looking to pass into half guard but Robertson pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Robertson is in guard.
OBrien keeping moving, preventing Robertson from controlling successfully.
OBrien manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
OBrien throwing strikes here but Robertson is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

OBrien sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Robertson wants to hold on but OBrien pushes him away.

OBrien gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

OBrien scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

OBrien decides to stand up, so the ref orders Robertson to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Robertson keeps the fight on the outside.

OBrien misses with a double jab

and Robertson counters by moving into the clinch.

OBrien has picked Robertson up - he's going for a ride! OBrien dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
OBrien is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Robertson trying to hold on to OBrien's head to control him but OBrien postures up.
OBrien content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
OBrien throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brodie OBrien showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



OBrien manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Robertson on his heels. He'll look to pass Robertson's guard now, I'm sure.
Robertson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
OBrien tries to free his leg and advance position but Robertson is retaining full guard.
OBrien trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Robertson manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
OBrien is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Robertson dives into side control.
OBrien throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

OBrien wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
OBrien tries to buck Robertson off but Robertson is having none of it.

Robertson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Robertson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Robertson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but OBrien is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

OBrien manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
OBrien seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
OBrien thows a huge punch but Robertson dodges it nicely.
Robertson is not content to let OBrien control the position.
Robertson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from OBrien.

OBrien throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Robertson to regain full guard.
OBrien is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
OBrien throws an elbow that misses. Robertson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in OBrien's guard. Nice move by Robertson!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
OBrien is adopting a defensive guard.

OBrien has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Robertson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
OBrien not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

OBrien has his foot on Robertson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Robertson works his way back into a safe position though.

Robertson has gone for a leg lock! OBrien slips out almost immediately though and dives into Robertson's guard.
OBrien forces his way into half guard.
Brandon Robertson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Brodie OBrien is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Well, if OBrien is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Brodie OBrien comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well OBrien has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
