Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Asmir Zslevski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlo Gonzaga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gonzaga has chosen Hit me Baby 1 more time = Britney Spears as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Asmir Zslevski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Carlo Gonzaga!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzaga misses with the combination.

Zslevski moves into the clinch successfully.

Zslevski has his foot on Gonzaga's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gonzaga works his way back into a safe position though.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Gonzaga is trying to control the action in half guard but Zslevski is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Gonzaga seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Zslevski does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Gonzaga stuffs the takedown attempt from Zslevski. Zslevski gets slowly back to his feet.
Zslevski shoots for a takedown but Gonzaga saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

A close round but Carlo Gonzaga will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Gonzaga has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Zslevski.
Zslevski shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gonzaga as he jumps to the side.
Gonzaga stuffs the takedown attempt from Zslevski. Zslevski gets slowly back to his feet.
Gonzaga circles away from the clinch attempt.
Zslevski tries to clinch but Gonzaga moves out of range.

Zslevski misses with a head kick.

Gonzaga gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Zslevski advances position into side control!
Gonzaga is trying to control Zslevski's posture but Zslevski avoids it.

Zslevski is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gonzaga is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Zslevski tries to move to mount but Gonzaga blocks the move with his legs.
Gonzaga is looking for a sweep.
Zslevski tries to move into full mount but can't pass Gonzaga's legs.

Zslevski wants to control but Gonzaga is keeping him busy.

Zslevski thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A combination from Zslevski does no damage.
Nice takedown defense from Gonzaga. No joy for Zslevski on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Asmir Zslevski. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zslevski shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gonzaga as he jumps to the side.
Zslevski tries to close the distance and clinch but Gonzaga swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Asmir Zslevski dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Gonzaga gets control of Zslevski's arms and successfully pulls guard. Gonzaga will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Gonzaga has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Zslevski is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gonzaga.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Zslevski is working hard here to advance position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Zslevski is looking to clinch but Gonzaga is avoiding it.
Asmir Zslevski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zslevski lands with a slapping head kick.

Gonzaga forces Zslevski back against the cage and clinches.
Gonzaga on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Zslevski pulls guard.

Zslevski escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gonzaga gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Zslevski has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gonzaga can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well Zslevski has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
