Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Peter Rowland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Adam Slate!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slate shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rowland counters with a nice uppercut.
Slate shoots and misses

and Rowland counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rowland.

Slate breaks the clinch.

Rowland closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Slate did well to prevent Rowland getting side control.

Rowland is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Slate trying to control but Rowland postures up.
Slate avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Rowland.

Rowland is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Slate defends it well.

Slate is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Slate is pressing down on Rowland's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Rowland in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Rowland throws an elbow that misses. Slate uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Rowland's guard. Nice move by Slate!
Slate trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Rowland could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Rowland wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Slate postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rowland is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Slate, into his guard.

Rowland won't allow Slate to sweep him here.
Rowland works over Slate with some ground and pound from guard.
Rowland throws a big elbow that misses.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rowland throws a strike but Slate rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Slate wants to control from the top but Rowland keeps moving.

Slate tries to stand but Rowland is controlling from the bottom.

Rowland might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Rowland throwing strikes but missing.
Rowland trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rowland accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Slate looking for a sweep. Not yet Slate, not yet.
Slate looking to control.
Rowland postures up in Slate's guard and throws a big left but Slate blocks it.
Slate pulls Rowland in close to prevent any damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Slate avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rowland missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Peter Rowland dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Slate with a poor takedown
and Rowland makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Slate moves to clinch but Rowland breaks away
and Rowland counters with a slapping leg kick.
Slate has his takedown stuffed
and Rowland counters with a solid body kick.
Rowland tries for a takedown but Slate circles away easily
and Slate counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Adam Slate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slate tries to clinch but Rowland is having none of it.
A chopping leg kick lands by Rowland.

Rowland closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Rowland wants to stand but Slate has his arm trapped.
Slate is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Rowland is controlling him well.
Slate is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rowland cracks Slate with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Slate tries to bench press Rowland off him but Rowland keeps the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rowland throws a strike aimed at the side of Slate's head but Slate avoids it well.
Rowland in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Rowland creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
You can see the frustration on Slate's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Rowland tries to stand but Slate is controlling his head.
Slate is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Rowland thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Slate is looking to regain half guard here but Rowland keeps moving and retains side control.
Rowland in side control, throwing shots but Slate defends.
Rowland lands a nice forearm strike.
Slate regains half guard, as Rowland was trying to land strikes.
Rowland throws a strike but Slate avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Slate has momentary wrist control but Rowland slips an elbow through the middle.
Slate is pulling down on Rowland's head to control his posture.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Rowland lands a couple of elbows.

Slate is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Rowland postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Slate lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rowland!
Peter Rowland overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Slate goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Rowland turns into him and now he's in Slate's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Slate trying to keep a closed guard but Rowland is proving a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Slate shoots and misses
and Rowland counters with a good, hard body kick but Slate shrugs it off.
Slate doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Rowland counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Slate looks to land a body kick but Rowland moved away.

and Rowland holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Peter Rowland has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adam Slate.

Slate wants to stand but Rowland is controlling his posture from full guard.

Rowland has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Slate should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Rowland has tightened it up now! Slate should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
