Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Garry Powders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpson shoots and misses

and Powders counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Powders uses his free foot to push down on Simpson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Simpson.
Powders throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Simpson because Powders loaded up on that one.

Powders is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Simpson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Powders fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Simpson is trying to escape the mount.
Powders wants to take his opponent's back but Simpson doesn't allow it.

Powders has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
