PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Baraka Simengwa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Loholt Pendragon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simengwa's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Afande Sele feat Ditto - Darubini kali. The crowd seem to be enjoying Pendragon's choice of entrance music: Counting Stars. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Baraka Simengwa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Loholt Pendragon!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab, jab by Pendragon - just one landing.
Simengwa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pendragon swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Simengwa uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pendragon.

Simengwa has closed the distance and engaged Pendragon in a clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Simengwa jumps into guard, dragging Pendragon to the mat.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Pendragon wants to control from the top but Simengwa keeps moving.
Simengwa is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Pendragon landing with the ground and pound.
Simengwa is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Simengwa has his foot on Pendragon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pendragon works his way back into a safe position though.

Simengwa is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pendragon is aware though and is defending well.
Simengwa bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pendragon's guard.

Pendragon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Simengwa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pendragon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Loholt Pendragon.
Pendragon throws a shot to the body.
Pendragon loads up on a big right hand but Simengwa slips the punch.
Pendragon stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Simengwa tries to clinch but Pendragon moves out of range.
Simengwa has a takedown stuffed.
Pendragon swats away the attempt to clinch by Simengwa.

Simengwa closes the distance and clinches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Simengwa is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the ropes enables Pendragon to keep the fight standing.
A short body shot lands from Pendragon as the two fighters clinch.
Simengwa tries to pull guard but Pendragon won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Baraka Simengwa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Simengwa tries to score a body lock takedown but Pendragon shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Pendragon lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Simengwa jumps guard but Pendragon turns him against the ropes and keeps the fight standing.
Pendragon lands a hook that snaps the head of Simengwa backwards.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Simengwa jumps guard and drags Pendragon to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Simengwa seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Simengwa throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Pendragon escapes and throws Simengwa's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Simengwa is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Simengwa is working hard here to advance position.
Simengwa is working to avoid the ground and pound but Pendragon connects with a decent elbow.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Simengwa is not content to let Pendragon control the position.
Pendragon lands a few punches from side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pendragon gets to mount! Simengwa was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Loholt Pendragon dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Simengwa tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Pendragon is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Simengwa has denied him.
Pendragon has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Simengwa seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Pendragon can turn it around.
Pendragon is persisting with his attempts to control the action in the clinch, rather than do any real damage.

You can see the frustration on Simengwa's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Loholt Pendragon has got the better of the ground game so far.

Pendragon throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Simengwa!
Pendragon has the hooks in. Simengwa is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Pendragon connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Simengwa to escape the position.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Loholt Pendragon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Pendragon lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Simengwa tries to pull guard but Pendragon holds him up against the ropes and eventually Simengwa drops back down to his feet.

Simengwa has got his arm under Pendragon's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Pendragon has spun round into Simengwa's guard beautifully! Well done that man!

Simengwa wants to hit a switch here but Pendragon passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Simengwa there!

Pendragon lands an elbow to the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pendragon scoring with big shots to the body. Simengwa is looking for a way out. A despairing look towards the ref and the official steps in to stop the fight. Simengwa was obviously done but didn't want to tap out.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Loholt Pendragon!
During a confident post fight interview, Loholt Pendragon thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
