Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nasir Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dodelike Slag (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nasir Jones could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Dodelike Slag's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nasir Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Dodelike Slag!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Bart Greer and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones ducks right into an uppercut from Slag.
Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Slag's waist but Slag gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.

Jones moves into the clinch.
Jones is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Jones pulls Slag into guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Slag missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones pulls Slag in close to prevent any damage.
Slag trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Slag with a flurry of punches that miss.
Slag throws an elbow that misses. Jones uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Slag's guard. Nice move by Jones!
Slag looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Jones won't allow Slag to get back to his feet.
Jones controls from within his opponent's guard.
Slag looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Slag is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A head kick misses from Slag.
Jones misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jones circles away from the clinch attempt.

Jones has managed to clinch.

Slag breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jones tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Slag shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Jones tries to land a leg kick but Slag saw it coming and moves away.
Slag avoids the head kick by Jones.

Jones misses with a wild body shot.
Slag wants to clinch

and Jones counters by clinching up.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Slag working hard to break the clinch.
Slag swings wildly with an uppercut but Jones uses good head movement to avoid it.
Jones is pushing Slag up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Jones pulls guard successfully.
Slag wants to get up but he can't break Jones's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones pulls Slag in close to prevent any damage.
Slag trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Slag fails in his attempt to clinch.
Slag tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Jones dives in and grabs Slag's left leg, looking for a takedown. Slag pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nasir Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jones has closed the distance and engaged Slag in a clinch.
Slag has had enough of the clinch but Jones keeps him there for the moment.
Jones tries for a takedown but Slag manages to get underhooks.

Slag's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Slag swings for the body but Jones moves out of range.
Slag fails to land the takedown.
Slag looks winded!
Slag misses with a head kick.
Slag closes the distance but Jones moves to the side

and Jones counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Jones is trying to force a seperation but Slag has the dominant position.
Jones has Slag pressed against the cage, preventing Slag from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Jones manages to pull guard.
Jones is controlling Slag's posture.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones uses the cage to get back to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Slag throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Nasir Jones will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Slag throws a head kick that misses.
Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Slag as he avoids it easily.
Slag stuffs the takedown attempt from Jones. Jones gets slowly back to his feet.
Jones has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nasir Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Slag misses with a head kick.
Jones misses with a wild combination.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Slag shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Jones moves into the clinch.
Slag looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Jones prevents Slag from breaking the clinch.
Slag has had enough of the clinch but Jones keeps him there for the moment.
Slag wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Jones is trying to push Slag away but Slag has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Slag pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jones slaps away a takedown attempt from Slag, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Slag is breathing heavily.
Slag tries to clinch but Jones moves away
and Jones counters with a stiff right hand.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.

Slag breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jones misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jones dives in and grabs Slag's left leg, looking for a takedown. Slag pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.
Jones moves out of range of the strikes.
Slag misses with a wild body shot.
Nice sprawl there from Jones as Slag shoots in.
Slag misses with an uppercut

and Jones counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jones.
Jones tries to score a body lock takedown but Slag shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Slag is trying to pull guard but Jones turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Slag keeps control of Jones as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Slag goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jones prevents it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Jones ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jones no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Jones wants to sweep but no luck.

Jones had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Slag defends it easily.
Jones looking for a sweep. Not yet Jones, not yet.
Jones seems keen to control Slag's posture.

Slag has gone for a leg lock! Jones slips out almost immediately though and dives into Slag's guard.

Jones slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Jones decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Slag takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Jones shoots in but Slag avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Jones avoids a punch combination nicely.

Jones gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jones wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Slag has him pressed against the cage.
Slag is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Jones decides to pull guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones has Slag pulled in close to control his posture.

Jones manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nasir Jones dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Jones fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Slag is out of range.
Jones tries a head kick but it misses.
Jones tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A head kick from Slag lands but Jones takes it in his stride.
Dodelike Slag seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Jones has Slag up against the cage in a clinch.
Jones has Slag pressed against the cage, preventing Slag from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Slag is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Jones to keep the fight standing.

Slag escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jones fails to land the takedown.
Slag throws a right and a left that Jones avoids nicely.
Nasir Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Slag takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Slag fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jones on the side of the head.

Jones uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Slag.
Jones shoots in and drives through. Slag sprawls well.
Jones fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nasir Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Slag walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jones moves nicely into side control.
Slag tries to control but Jones manages to take his back.

Jones looking to break Slag's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Slag remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Jones will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Slag is trying to stand back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones biding his time, controlling Slag.
Slag trying to control but not successfully.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jones has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Slag has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Nasir Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jones has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Slag's body.

Jones is looking for the choke from the back position but Slag is controlling his hands well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones is riding his opponent, not letting Slag buck him off.
Dodelike Slag has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jones's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

And that's the end of the fight!
Nasir Jones showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
