PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Casey Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chang li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Casey Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chang li!
The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Sandra Marshall and Dirk Anderson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A slapping leg kick lands for li.

li fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Penn sprawls well initially but li persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Penn trying to hold on to li's head to control him but li postures up.
li seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Penn does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Penn gets back to full guard.
li trying to control but Penn is working from the bottom.
li must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Penn controls li momentarily but li frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
li missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
li stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Penn swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Penn keeping moving, preventing li from controlling successfully.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Penn shoots in and drives through. li sprawls well.
Penn misses with a takedown
and li makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

li closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Penn to the mat! Penn manages to get full guard.
li trying to control but Penn is working from the bottom.
li wants to pass the guard but Penn is keeping the position.
Penn is looking to sweep but instead, li has passed into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Penn has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. li is working away from the top position though.
li is keen to just control but Penn is a slippery customer.
li is figuring out what he wants to do next.
li looks winded!
Penn is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of li's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take li's back!
li tries to roll but Penn sticks to his back.
li really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Penn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Penn sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! li taps out!
