PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marco Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tank Torchertime (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Torchertime is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Ruff Ryders By DMX. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marco Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tank Torchertime!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Torchertime cracks Rivera with a good jab.
Torchertime fails to land with a series of punches.
Rivera defending well as Torchertime loads up on a big left hand.
Rivera tries to clinch up.

Rivera fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Torchertime sprawls well initially but Rivera persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Torchertime looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Torchertime pushes Rivera off looking to stand but Rivera dives back in and keeps control.
Rivera seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Torchertime does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Torchertime manages to get to full guard.
Rivera wants to control from the top but Torchertime keeps moving.
Torchertime is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Rivera's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Rivera decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Rivera darts in and clinches Torchertime up against the cage.

Rivera breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Torchertime misses with a few strikes there.
Rivera throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Torchertime throws a looping overhand right but Rivera ducks down to avoid it.
Rivera moves out of range as Torchertime strikes.
Rivera tries to clinch up.
A head kick misses from Rivera.
Torchertime misses with a wild combination.
Torchertime throws a hook but Rivera blocks it.
Torchertime looks to land a left hand but Rivera moved out of range nicely.
Torchertime misses with a series of wild punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Torchertime waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Rivera.
Torchertime throws a lazy right hand but Rivera sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A big left from Torchertime misses.
Rivera avoids the body shot from Torchertime.
Torchertime looks gassed!
Rivera tries to clinch there but Torchertime circles away.
Torchertime misses with a hook.
Tank Torchertime seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Torchertime throws a right and a left that Rivera avoids nicely.
Torchertime throws the left hand but Rivera avoids the punch easily.
Rivera throws a head kick that misses.
Rivera staying out of range there.

Rivera pushes Torchertime up against the cage in a clinch.

Rivera breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Torchertime throws a nice looking combination but Rivera bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Torchertime might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Rivera looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Rivera controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rivera is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Rivera stands up over Torchertime, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Torchertime keeping moving, preventing Rivera from controlling successfully.
Rivera trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rivera looking to pass the guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Torchertime is on top in guard.

Torchertime decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rivera, up you get!

Torchertime is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rivera's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rivera's back!

Torchertime working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Rivera wants to control his opponent's hands but Torchertime gets his hands free.
Torchertime misses with an elbow to the head.

Torchertime looking for the choke from the back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Torchertime lands strikes to the head.
Rivera manages to reverse the position and now he's in Torchertime's guard. Nice work there by Rivera.

Torchertime has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rivera can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Marco Rivera will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

and Rivera counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rivera.

Rivera drops back looking for a leg! Torchertime is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Torchertime manages to kick Rivera off! Rivera jumps back into Torchertime's guard.

Torchertime is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Rivera rolls with it to try and escape but Torchertime cranks on the arm and Rivera is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Tank Torchertime!
