The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Loner throws a series of punches but Hill moves out of range.
Loner fails with the takedown.
Loner plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Loner looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Loner is looking for a kimura but Hill is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Loner to get the leverage.

Hill looking for submissions off his back.

Loner wants to work for an arm triangle but Hill is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Loner with the ground and pound but Hill uses the opportunity to regain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hill trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Hill is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Loner frees his head nicely. Oh but Hill has switched to an armbar! Loner is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

A determined Billy Hill didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
