Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gunnar Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doomsday Drost (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Drost's choice of entrance music: Kilpi - Sielut Iskee Tulta. Doomsday Drost told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 13 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gunnar Nelson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Doomsday Drost!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drost throws a hook but Nelson blocks it.

Drost shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Nelson is trying to defend but Drost finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Nelson looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Nelson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Drost throws a strike but Nelson avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

Nelson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Nelson has closed the distance and engaged Drost in a clinch.
Drost takes a shot to the head.
Nelson can't find room to land a body shot as Drost controls the action.
Nelson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Drost.
Drost pushes Nelson back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Drost shoots in and drives through. Nelson sprawls well.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Drost takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Nelson takes a swing at Drost's ribcage but misses.
Drost lands a nice shot to the body.
Drost missing with a left hand there. Nelson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Drost keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Nelson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Drost.

Nelson throws a low kick but Drost avoids it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Drost looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nelson is fending him off so far but Drost persists. Nope, Nelson circles away and we're back to standing.
Gunnar Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Doomsday Drost.
Nelson closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Nelson feints and then cracks Drost's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Drost down.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Nelson here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Nelson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Nelson takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Drost fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Drost avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nelson misses with a looping left.
Drost lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Nelson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nelson showed some decent athleticism there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Drost might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Nelson haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Drost stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Nelson throws up his legs and catches Drost in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Drost tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Nelson! That came out of nowhere!

A very excited looking Gunnar Nelson made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
