The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sagdiyev is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mazuke sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Mazuke is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sagdiyev's half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mazuke looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Mazuke should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Sagdiyev is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Mazuke.
Mazuke lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Sagdiyev.

Mazuke is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Sagdiyev is defending well though. Mazuke let's go of the attempt for now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sagdiyev tries to roll but Mazuke sticks to his back.
Mazuke has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mazuke is working for a rear naked choke. Sagdiyev is not defending it well and Mazuke has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Sagdiyev refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Sagdiyev's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
