The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hero throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Maruyama tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Hero has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Hero fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Maruyama looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

We've been told by Maruyama's head coaches at London MMA Fight Academy that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hero scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Maruyama doesn't seem bothered though.
Maruyama moves out of range of the leg kick from Hero.
Maruyama wants to clinch up but Hero keeps it at a distance.

Hero really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maruyama. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hero is sitting in close to Maruyama's body. Maruyama has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Hero is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Hero is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Maruyama.
