The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evgeniy gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Last counters with a three punch combo that has Evgeniy backing up. Evgeniy nods at Last to acknowledge the strikes.

Last fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Evgeniy to the ground. Last is now in Evgeniy's guard.
Last has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Evgeniy looking to hit a scissor sweep but Last is one step ahead there.

Last fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Evgeniy sprawls well initially but Last persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Last uses his free foot to push down on Evgeniy's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Evgeniy.

Last has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Evgeniy's face.

Evgeniy sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Last looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Evgeniy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Last in particular looking to stall.
Last wants to free his trapped foot but Evgeniy is holding on for dear life with his legs.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Evgeniy tries to kick Last off but Last keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Last landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Last is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
