With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Slavonik Powarenko!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lewis looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Lewis controlling the action here.
Lewis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Powarenko looking for submissions off his back.
Lewis with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Lewis is pressing down on Powarenko's thigh, looking to free his foot. Powarenko is holding on for now.
Lewis performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Lewis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Adrian Lewis.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lewis connects with a nice short shot to Powarenko's temple.
Lewis is controlling the pace.

Lewis seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Powarenko for as long as he can get away with.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lewis wants to control but Powarenko is keeping him busy.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Powarenko is looking for a sweep.
Lewis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Powarenko keeps working.
Lewis takes a little break here. Powarenko wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Adrian Lewis has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Powarenko shoots in looking for a takedown. Lewis tries to sprawl out of it but Powarenko keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lewis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Lewis shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Lewis was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Powarenko is looking for a sweep.
Lewis moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Powarenko is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Lewis off and has taken his back!
Powarenko has the hooks in. Lewis is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lewis rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Lewis wants to improve his position but Powarenko is controlling well.

Powarenko is looking for a kimura but Lewis is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Powarenko to get the leverage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adrian Lewis dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Lewis shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Powarenko defends it nicely.

Lewis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Lewis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Powarenko keeps working.
Lewis controls the position.
Lewis wants to control but Powarenko is keeping him busy.
Lewis is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Powarenko is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Powarenko tries to bench press Lewis off him but Lewis keeps the position.

Powarenko is looking to reverse the position.
Lewis is chipping away with strikes.
Powarenko sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Lewis looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Lewis not doing much here.
Lewis prevents Powarenko from improving his position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Adrian Lewis just wasn't active enough.

Lewis looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Powarenko actively working from the bottom here.
Lewis uses his free foot to push down on Powarenko's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Powarenko.

Lewis is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Powarenko to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Powarenko shrugs it off.

Lewis throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Powarenko has his hands clasped together but Lewis breaks the hold and Powarenko is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Lewis!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Adrian Lewis!
