PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Old (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Bruce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bruce has chosen Bulls on Parade - Rage Against The Machine as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Jack Bruce will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matt Old!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Bruce!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Russell Pearce.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Old throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Bruce swinging wildly here.
Old throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Bruce lands a nice shot that snaps Old's head back.

Old scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Bruce wants to improve his position but Old is controlling well.
Old definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Old trying to control the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bruce is trying to get back to full guard.

Old stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Bruce to get to his feet.
Old takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Bruce misses the shot to the body.

Old gets a double leg takedown into Bruce's guard.
Bruce is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Old tries to free his leg and advance position but Bruce is retaining full guard.
Bruce is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Bruce is trying to hold Old in close to prevent damage but Old has managed to pass into half guard.

Old decides to return to a standing position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Old dives in and scores a takedown into Bruce's guard.
Bruce wants to sweep here but Old controlling him for the moment.
Bruce really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Old. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bruce lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Old!

Old is looking to get to half guard.
Old is working hard here to advance position.

Bruce swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Old is now in Bruce's guard. A big mistake from Bruce there, giving up the dominant position!
Old slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Old postures up.
Bruce looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bruce controls Old momentarily but Old frees himself.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Old controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Matt Old will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Bruce tests Old's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Old shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bruce's guard.

Old stays in close to Bruce's body and controls the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Old accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Old wants to control from the top but Bruce keeps moving.

Bruce pulls Old in close to his closed guard and prevents Old from doing any damage or advancing position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Matt Old just wasn't active enough.
Bruce moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Old drops his hands momentarily and Bruce takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Old tries to keep at a distance but Bruce has taken the fight into the clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Bruce.

Old gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bruce wants to get back to full guard but Old has passed into side control.

Old tries to advance to mount but can't.
Bruce is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Old has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Bruce, as that shot connected.
Old gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Bruce gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Old is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Bruce!
