Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fred Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Facundo Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fred Simmons could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Facundo Mendez's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fred Simmons!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Facundo Mendez!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Kavanagh and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendez changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Simmons looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Simmons is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Mendez off and has taken his back!
Simmons is trying to stick to Mendez's back but Mendez is turning into Simmons. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Simmons's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Mendez.

Simmons working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mendez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mendez manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Mendez tries a low kick but Simmons avoids it.
Simmons keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Simmons looks to score with a jab to the body but Mendez is just out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

That was a close second round but I would say that Fred Simmons will probably get the nod.

Mendez does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Mendez shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Simmons is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mendez is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
