The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Hughes is putting a hurting on Resnov here, landing some big shots from side control.
Resnov is trying to control Hughes's posture but Hughes avoids it.
Resnov dodges the ground and pound from Hughes.

Hughes wants to control but Resnov is keeping him busy.
Hughes is really struggling to control Resnov but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Hughes cracks Resnov with a big elbow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

It looks like Victor Resnov has been cut.

Hughes lands a nice forearm strike.
Hughes in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
That has opened up Victor Resnov's cut even more.

The cut above Victor Resnov's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Hughes works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Resnov is still in real trouble! Can Hughes finish him?
Resnov tries to buck Hughes off but Hughes is having none of it.
Hughes grinds an elbow into Resnov's temple.
Hughes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hughes scores with a big shot from side control... and another... and another! Oh Resnov is done here - save him referee! More strikes land and eventually the ref does step in and Hughes can finally stop beating on his defenseless opponent!
