PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benji Hidori (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nate Kart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hidori's entrance music is allejandro. A fine choice. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Benji Hidori!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Nate Kart!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kart fails with the takedown
and Hidori makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Kart really felt that one!
Kart shoots in looking for a takedown. Hidori tries to sprawl out of it but Kart keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hidori manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kart wants to clinch up but Hidori keeps it at a distance.
Kart lands with a kick to the temple. Hidori shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Kart moves to clinch but Hidori breaks away
and Hidori counters with a low kick, right behind Kart 's knee.

Hidori clinches.
Kart prevents the takedown attempt.
Hidori tries to pull guard but Kart holds him up against the cage and eventually Hidori drops back down to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Hidori takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Hidori goes for a takedown in the clinch but Kart prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Benji Hidori. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kart wants to take the fight to the mat but Hidori manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Hidori escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Hidori closes the distance and clinches.

Kart jumps guard and drags Hidori to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Hidori has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Hidori thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kart looking for a sweep. Not yet Kart, not yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hidori prevents Kart from getting back to his feet.
Kart looks winded!
Hidori trying to control but Kart is working from the bottom.

Kart had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hidori defends it easily.

Kart escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hidori gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kart looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Kart is trying to control the position but Hidori postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hidori lands a couple of elbows.
Hidori passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hidori looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Kart is avoiding damage well.

Hidori stands up.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Hidori. Kart shrugs it off though.
Hidori thumps Kart with a low kick.

Hidori closes the distance and clinches.
Hidori with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Hidori jumps guard but Kart stands there with Hidori around his waist. Hidori gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kart is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Hidori to keep the fight standing.

Hidori's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hidori clinches up against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hidori wants a takedown but no success here.

Hidori drags the fight down to the ground.
Hidori throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hidori is trying to keep Kart in close.
Hidori looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kart is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Benji Hidori dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Hidori shoots in for a takedown but Kart shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Hidori moves into range and clinches up with Kart.

Kart decides to pull guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hidori preventing the sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kart looking for a triangle here. Hidori is fighting it but it looks tight! Kart pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Hidori is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Nate Kart!
In defeat, Benji Hidori stepped up to the mic, saying 'I have dishonored myself and my fans.'.
