PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shane Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marv Knox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Knox comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Atreyu - You Were the King, Now You're Unconscious kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knox misses with a wild body shot.

Carwin's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Knox connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Carwin scrambles back to his feet.

Carwin darts in looking for a takedown but Knox gets double underhooks and turns Carwin into the cage.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Carwin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Knox can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Carwin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Knox's guard.

Carwin connects with a couple of short punches.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Knox can do anything to dispel that myth.
Carwin scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Knox to see if he's OK.

Knox tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Carwin is working Knox over with some ground and pound from side control.

Carwin creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Carwin looks up at the clock and then as Knox takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Carwin smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

It looks like Marv Knox has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Carwin is trying hard to land a takedown here. Knox sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Knox seems to have recovered his senses.

Knox misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Knox lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
The fighters circling - Knox throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Carwin seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Carwin throws a right and a left that Knox avoids nicely.
Carwin rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Knox moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Carwin drops Knox with a beautiful combination! Knox stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Carwin is looking for the KO!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Carwin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Knox tests Carwin's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Carwin ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Carwin misses the body punch

and Knox counters with a crisp one two that drops Carwin! Knox thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Carwin to his feet! Carwin is in big trouble!

Carwin is rocked!
Knox drops Carwin with a straight right hand, right on the button! Knox follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!

After winning the bout, Marv Knox thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
