PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kiichi Miyazawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Deano Clavet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Clavet is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Y Mouillera Pu Pantoute . I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kiichi Miyazawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Deano Clavet!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nice combo by Clavet! Oh, that's hurt him - Miyazawa falls to the canvas and Clavet follows him into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Clavet slows the pace down.
Clavet wants to control but Miyazawa is keeping him busy.
Clavet throws an elbow but Miyazawa slips to the side and avoids it well.
Clavet controlling the position from side mount.
Miyazawa is trying to control Clavet's posture but Clavet avoids it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Deano Clavet was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Miyazawa shoots in but no luck this time.
Clavet throws a series of punches but Miyazawa moves out of range.

Clavet clinches.

Clavet gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Clavet trying to control but Miyazawa is working from the bottom.
Miyazawa controlling the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Miyazawa avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Miyazawa looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Miyazawa passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Clavet struggling a bit here.

Miyazawa goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Clavet rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Miyazawa's guard! Nice work there by Clavet!

Clavet prevents Miyazawa from getting back to his feet.
Clavet is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Kiichi Miyazawa wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Miyazawa will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Miyazawa slips under a jab.
Clavet cracks Miyazawa with a good jab.
Clavet tries to close the distance and clinch but Miyazawa swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Clavet will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Clavet stuffs the takedown attempt from Miyazawa. Miyazawa gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kiichi Miyazawa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Miyazawa avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Deano Clavet seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Miyazawa walks into a jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Clavet gets a clinch.
Clavet lands an elbow just above Miyazawa 's eye.
Clavet throws a punch but it's blocked by Miyazawa.
Clavet wants to take the fight to the mat but Miyazawa manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Clavet digs a right hand into Miyazawa's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Miyazawa's gas tank.
With the fighters up against the cage, Clavet throws an elbow but misses.

Clavet drags the fight down to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miyazawa pushing down on Clavet's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Miyazawa is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Miyazawa sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Clavet defending well though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Deano Clavet dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Miyazawa dodges the punch combination from Clavet.
Miyazawa has a takedown stuffed.

Miyazawa closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Clavet tries to bench press Miyazawa off him but Miyazawa keeps the position.
Miyazawa scores with a couple of short elbows.
Miyazawa throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Kiichi Miyazawa overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Clavet is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Miyazawa trying to control the position but Clavet is working away.

Miyazawa has hold of Clavet's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Clavet tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Miyazawa cranks the arm and Clavet screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Clavet, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Kiichi Miyazawa!
Kiichi Miyazawa spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
