PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Randleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Kovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kevin Randleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Adam Kovic!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Sergei Dronov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kovic is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kovic stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kovic wants it to stay on the feet.
Kovic is looking to clinch.
Randleman throws a head kick that misses.
Kovic misses with a body kick.
Randleman swats away the attempt to clinch by Kovic.
Randleman bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Kovic's head.


It looks like Adam Kovic has been cut.
Randleman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Randleman fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kovic tries to close the distance and clinch but Randleman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Randleman circles away from the clinch attempt.
Randleman keeps the fight on the outside.

Kovic has Randleman up against the cage in a clinch.
Kovic struggles to land a body shot inside as Randleman controls his hands.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kovic swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Kovic tries to throw a body punch but Randleman avoids it by throwing Kovic back against the cage.

Randleman jumps guard and drags Kovic to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Randleman keeping moving, preventing Kovic from controlling successfully.
Kovic engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Kovic working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Randleman tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Randleman is trying to keep Kovic in close.
Kovic postures up and lands a big shot to Randleman's brow.
Kovic chips away with some ground and pound.
Kovic slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Randleman is looking to stand up but Kovic isn't so interested in that idea.
Kovic pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Randleman is keeping the position for now.
Randleman looking for a sweep. Not yet Randleman, not yet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kovic is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Randleman wants to get back to his feet but Kovic is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Kovic pushing down on Randleman's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Randleman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kovic on the ground.
Kovic not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Kovic trying to mount his opponent but Randleman defends it.
Randleman preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Kovic is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Randleman sees it coming and defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Randleman wants to control the action here but instead Kovic manages to pass to full mount!
Kovic has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Randleman reaches up to try and control the position but Kovic seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Randleman rolls and tries to escape and now Kovic has his back!

Kovic has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kovic is landing with strikes. Randleman can't take much more of this.
Kovic gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kovic scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Randleman is looking for a way out.
Kovic lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Randleman hold on?!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Kovic dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Adam Kovic's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Randleman avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Kovic wants to clinch up but Randleman keeps it at a distance.
Randleman misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kovic tries to clinch but Randleman is having none of it.
Kovic darts in trying to clinch

and Randleman counters by moving into the clinch.
Randleman tries to pull guard but Kovic won't allow it.
Randleman is pressed up against the cage. Kovic has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Randleman down to the mat. Randleman avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kovic looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Kovic counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kevin Randleman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kovic moves nicely into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kovic is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kovic advances nicely into full mount.
Kovic controlling from mount.
The referee warns Randleman that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Randleman takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Randleman is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Kovic locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Randleman is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Adam Kovic!
