Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jonatan Jose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tommy Vertigo!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vertigo has his takedown stuffed

and Jose counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Jose looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Jose prevents Vertigo from standing back up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jose connects with a nice short shot to Vertigo's temple.
Vertigo wants to control but Jose is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Well, if Jose is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Vertigo is looking for a sweep. Jose is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Vertigo manages to get to full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vertigo wants to sweep but no luck.

Jose trying to stand up but can't free himself from Vertigo's guard.
Jose landing some decent shots from guard.
Jose passes into half guard.
Jose is taking a breather. Vertigo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Jose seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Vertigo for as long as he can get away with.

Jose trying to mount his opponent but Vertigo defends it.
Vertigo looks like he's trying to stand up.

Jose is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Vertigo manages to get to full guard.

Jose seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jonatan Jose.

Jose is pushing down on Vertigo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Vertigo is fighting to maintain full guard but Jose has managed to sneak the leg through.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jose scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Vertigo is looking to get back to is feet but Jose passes into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vertigo struggling a bit here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vertigo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jose wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee asks Jose politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Jose prefers to stall for the moment though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonatan Jose dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Jose closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Jose here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Jose controlling the action here.
Vertigo wants to control but Jose is keeping busy.
Vertigo tries to get to full guard but Jose has control of the leg.
Jose content to control rather than advance.
Vertigo wants to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jonatan Jose just wasn't active enough.

Jose gets a clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Jose's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Come on Jose - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Vertigo wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Jose manages to break the clinch.

Jose has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Vertigo is trying to keep an underhook but Jose manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Vertigo is trying to get back to full guard.
Vertigo makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Vertigo.

Vertigo is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jose pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Vertigo is keeping the position for now.
Vertigo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Jose has gone for a leg lock! Vertigo slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jose's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jose is pulling down on Vertigo's head to control his posture.

Vertigo preventing the sweep.
Vertigo trying to control but Jose is working from the bottom.
Jose on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jose tries to get out of the position.
Vertigo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jose is keeping the position for now.
Jose pulls Vertigo in close to prevent any damage.

We're going to have a standup here because Jonatan Jose wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Vertigo fails with an attempt to clinch.

Vertigo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Jose to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Jose wants to stand but Vertigo is controlling his posture from full guard.
Jose slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vertigo fails with a takedown attempt.

Jose closes the distance and pushes Vertigo back into the cage.

Jose pulls guard.
Vertigo won't allow Jose to sweep him here.
Jose pulls Vertigo in close to prevent any damage.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vertigo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Vertigo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jose is proving hard to escape from.

Jose has Vertigo pulled in close to control his posture.
Vertigo trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Jonatan Jose has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Vertigo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jose circles away.

Jose closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Vertigo quickly recovers to half guard.
Vertigo trying to control from the bottom.

Jose is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Vertigo sees it coming and defends easily.
Jose lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Jose is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Vertigo trying to hold on to Jose's head to control him but Jose postures up.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Jose lands a nice short elbow.
Vertigo trying to hold on to Jose's head to control him but Jose postures up.
Vertigo won't allow Jose to pass to mount.
Jose prevents Vertigo from improving his position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jose passes to full mount!

Vertigo is working to get back to half guard.
Jose has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Vertigo's face.
Jose landing strikes from the mount and Vertigo is in trouble!
A big strike lands for Jose! That's really hurt Vertigo and he's turned his back - Jose keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Jose jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:51 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jonatan Jose!
