Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bruno Da Gaucho!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Edson Garcia!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Garcia rushes Da Gaucho and presses him up against the cage.
Garcia taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Garcia misses with a punch to the body.
Garcia scores with a nice hook to the head.
Garcia lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Garcia lands a body punch in the clinch.

Da Gaucho gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Garcia regains guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Da Gaucho tries to free his leg and advance position but Garcia is retaining full guard.
Garcia really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Da Gaucho. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Da Gaucho is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Garcia looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Da Gaucho trying to control the position from guard on top but Garcia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Garcia can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bruno Da Gaucho wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Garcia looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Da Gaucho is fending him off so far but Garcia persists. Nope, Da Gaucho circles away and we're back to standing.
Garcia tries to close the distance and clinch but Da Gaucho swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Garcia closes the distance and pushes Da Gaucho back into the cage.

Da Gaucho tightens his grip and picks Garcia up, before dumping him to the ground. Garcia manages to land in guard.

Da Gaucho is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Da Gaucho trying to control but Garcia is working from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Da Gaucho forces his way into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Da Gaucho controlling the pace.
Da Gaucho passes to side control.

Da Gaucho wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Garcia, who protects the arm well.
Da Gaucho wants to lay and pray for a moment but Garcia keeps working.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Da Gaucho taking a breather here.
Da Gaucho wants to control but Garcia is keeping him busy.

Da Gaucho wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Garcia, who protects the arm well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Garcia tries to bench press Da Gaucho off him but Da Gaucho keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bruno Da Gaucho dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Garcia lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Garcia has managed to clinch.
Garcia tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Da Gaucho avoids it.
Da Gaucho blocks an elbow strike from Garcia.

Da Gaucho wants the takedown. Garcia is fighting it off but Da Gaucho persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Garcia's guard against the cage.

Da Gaucho drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Garcia dives on top into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Da Gaucho is on top in guard.

Da Gaucho is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Garcia has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Da Gaucho is looking to defend but Garcia has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Da Gaucho! Garcia pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Da Gaucho taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Edson Garcia!
Edson Garcia is the new bantamweight champion!
Edson Garcia decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
