PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jean Conrad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Loggia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Loggia has chosen "Ready or Not" by The Fugees as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jean Conrad!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Loggia!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Conrad throws a series of punches but Loggia moves out of range.

Conrad gets a clinch.
Conrad tries for a takedown. No joy.

Loggia pulls guard effortlessly.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Loggia is adopting a defensive guard.
Conrad throwing strikes from guard but Loggia blocks nicely.
Conrad trying to control the position from guard on top but Loggia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Conrad has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Loggia is proving hard to escape from.
Conrad is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

We're going to have a standup here because Jean Conrad wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Loggia looking to stall.

Conrad works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Loggia can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Conrad controls the pace.
Loggia throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Conrad is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Loggia is looking to stand up but Conrad isn't so interested in that idea.
Conrad wants to stand but Loggia is controlling his posture from full guard.

Loggia tries to buck Conrad off but Conrad is having none of it.
Conrad remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Conrad is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Conrad wants to free his trapped foot but Loggia is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Loggia tries to get to full guard but Conrad has control of the leg.
Loggia is trying to control but can't.
Loggia slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Conrad wants to control from the top but Loggia keeps moving.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Loggia shoots in for a takedown but Conrad shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Loggia tries a head kick but it misses.
Loggia connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Conrad throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Loggia tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Conrad is in Loggia's guard.
Loggia looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Conrad puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Conrad thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Loggia's head.
Conrad is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Conrad is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Loggia defends it well.

Loggia has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Conrad is working away from the top position though.
Conrad tries to pass to full mount but Loggia defends it.
Conrad is keen to just control but Loggia is a slippery customer.

Jean Conrad overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Conrad trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Conrad is standing up over Loggia. Loggia looks to escape but Conrad dives into side control.
Loggia wants to get back to his feet.
Loggia defending against the ground and pound.
Loggia is looking to reverse the position.
Loggia is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Conrad asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Loggia is breathing heavily.
Loggia tries to buck Conrad off but Conrad is having none of it.

Conrad tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Conrad tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Conrad controls the position.
Loggia is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Conrad has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Loggia is not content to let Conrad control the position.
Loggia holding on.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Conrad is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Loggia's shoulder. That is not cool.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Conrad fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Loggia avoids it really well and circles away.
Horrible takedown by Loggia or perhaps it was just good defense by Conrad which made him look bad.
Loggia scores with a head kick. Conrad tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Conrad shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Loggia as he avoids it easily.

and Conrad counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Conrad.
Loggia tries to pull guard but Conrad holds him up against the cage and eventually Loggia drops back down to his feet.
Jean Conrad has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Loggia.
Loggia lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Conrad is looking for a takedown.
Loggia tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Conrad just stands there and leans against the cage.
Loggia goes for a takedown attempt but Conrad pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Loggia takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Conrad shoots in and gets a takedown into Loggia's guard.
Loggia utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Conrad throwing strikes from guard but Loggia blocks nicely.

Conrad wants to control from the top but Loggia keeps moving.

Conrad slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Loggia trying to keep a closed guard but Conrad is proving a slippery customer.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Conrad passes Loggia's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Conrad wants to work for an arm triangle but Loggia is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Loggia kicks Conrad off and gets back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Loggia throws a body punch but Conrad moves out of range.
Horrible takedown by Conrad or perhaps it was just good defense by Loggia which made him look bad.
Conrad misses with a straight left.
Loggia pushes Conrad away with a front kick.
Loggia has his takedown stuffed

and Conrad counters with a shoot takedown. Loggia fights it but they end up in guard.
Conrad wants to control from the top but Loggia keeps moving.
Loggia is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Conrad decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Loggia, up you get!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Loggia circles away from the clinch attempt.

Loggia shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Loggia was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
You can see the frustration on Conrad's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Conrad avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Loggia.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Conrad is looking to reverse the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jean Conrad showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Conrad, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
