Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Mueller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fuji Taro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Taro's choice of entrance music: Indestructable. Santiago Mueller has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Santiago Mueller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fuji Taro!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mueller throws a wild body kick that Taro sees coming a mile off.
Taro is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Taro shoots in but no luck this time.
Horrible takedown by Mueller or perhaps it was just good defense by Taro which made him look bad.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Taro.
Mueller tries to improve position but can't.

Taro goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Mueller rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Taro's guard! Nice work there by Mueller!

Taro is trying to improve his position.

Taro is not content to let Mueller control the position.
Taro looking for a sweep but Mueller has passed into full mount! Oh no!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Taro can do anything to dispel that myth.
Mueller takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Taro tries to reverse the position but Mueller maintains control.
Mueller won't let Taro get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Mueller throws some wild stikes that Taro manages to avoid easily.
Taro wants to control but Mueller is having none of it.
Mueller looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Mueller working for a submission but Taro is keeping him at bay.
Mueller wants to control the pace but Taro is squirming around nicely.
Taro is working to get back to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mueller thowing shots but they're missing.

Taro can't escape the position.
Mueller tries to control but Taro wriggling away.

Mueller working for a submission but Taro is keeping him at bay.
Mueller trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Taro tries to control Mueller's body but Mueller pushes him off. Taro squirms to his side and now Mueller has his back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Taro just trying to survive but Mueller is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Taro tries to escape the position.
Mueller is looking to control Taro but Taro is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Taro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mueller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Taro looks winded!
Good control from Mueller.
Taro tries to escape but Mueller has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mueller controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Santiago Mueller dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Mueller changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Taro tries to avoid it but Mueller manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Taro to the ground. Taro escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Taro closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mueller's guard.
Taro tries to free his leg and advance position but Mueller is retaining full guard.
Taro must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Taro trying to control but Mueller is working from the bottom.
Mueller might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mueller looking to hit a scissor sweep but Taro is one step ahead there.

Taro decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mueller, up you get!

Taro throws a half hearted mid kick.
Mueller shoots in looking for a takedown but Taro manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mueller's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Taro swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Mueller moves into the clinch.
Taro doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Mueller goes for a takedown attempt but Taro pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Santiago Mueller. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mueller stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mueller wants it to stay on the feet.
Taro is breathing heavily.
Mueller leaves Taro with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Taro shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mueller as he jumps to the side.

Mueller bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Mueller has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mueller is looking to clinch.
Mueller throws a head kick that misses.
Taro tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mueller paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Taro changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mueller tries to avoid it but Taro manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mueller to the ground. Mueller escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Mueller swats away the attempt to clinch by Taro.
Mueller wants to clinch
and Taro makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Mueller takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Taro swings for the body but Mueller moves out of range.
Santiago Mueller is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Taro fails with a takedown attempt.
Mueller closes the distance and clinches up with Taro, looking for a takedown. Mueller pushes Taro against the cage but Taro circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mueller scores with a jab to the jaw.
Mueller goes for a double leg but Taro avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Taro continues to drive forward.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Mueller pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mueller is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mueller preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Taro throws a big elbow that misses.
Mueller wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Santiago Mueller.

Taro closes the distance and pushes Mueller back into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Fuji Taro will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Mueller dives in and grabs Taro's left leg, looking for a takedown. Taro pushes down on Mueller's head and hops out.
Mueller dodges the punch combination from Taro.

Taro moves into range and clinches up with Mueller.
Taro is working for takedown but Mueller is calmly controlling the position for now.
Taro keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Mueller's efforts to push away.

Taro breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Taro rushes Mueller and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Mueller.
Taro tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Mueller just stands there and leans against the cage.
Taro wants to stall.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Mueller breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Taro takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mueller shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Taro pinned against the cage. Taro gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mueller fails with a takedown attempt.

Taro lands with a nice body kick.

Mueller is working Taro over against the cage.
Taro drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mueller gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mueller tries to pull guard but Taro forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Mueller managing to block the knees to the body from Taro.
Taro has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Mueller jumps guard but Taro stands there with Mueller around his waist. Mueller gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Taro is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Mueller pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Mueller ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mueller no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Mueller is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mueller has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Mueller keeping moving, preventing Taro from controlling successfully.
Taro throwing strikes but missing.
Mueller is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Santiago Mueller wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mueller tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Taro defends well and Mueller ends up having to push Taro into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Taro jumps guard but Mueller stands there with Taro around his waist. Taro gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Mueller tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Horrible takedown by Mueller or perhaps it was just good defense by Taro which made him look bad.
Mueller misses with a takedown attempt - Taro sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mueller on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Santiago Mueller.
I think Mueller has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
