Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Royce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexandru Turandru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Turandru's choice of entrance music: Bohemian Rhapsody . There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie drives through and clinches with Turandru against the cage.
A left hand lands to the body for Gracie.

Gracie escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sloppy strikes from Turandru. Those never looked like landing.
Gracie comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Turandru misses with a double jab

and Gracie counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Turandru looks winded!
This has been an exciting period of action!

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Gracie is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Turandru defends it well.

Gracie looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Turandru with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Turandru is refusing to be controlled, as Gracie sits in half guard.
Gracie wants to stand but Turandru has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Royce Gracie.
Gracie misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Turandru ducks under a wild hook from Gracie.
Turandru will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Alexandru Turandru is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Gracie decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Gracie is looking to take a break and control but Turandru is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Gracie cracks Turandru with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Gracie is landing with some decent strikes but Turandru is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Gracie is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Turandru can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Gracie shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Turandru's guard.

Turandru pushes Gracie away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Gracie gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Gracie fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Turandru is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Gracie has taken his back.
Gracie just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Turandru won't enjoy being in this position. Gracie looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Turandru is tapping - it's over boys! Gracie picks up the submission victory!
