Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Zieg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thelonious Skunk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joshua Zieg!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Thelonious Skunk!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Bruno Lombardi and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Zieg avoids the head kick by Skunk.
Skunk moves in looking to clinch but Zieg pushes him off.
Skunk is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Zieg throws a lazy head kick

and Skunk counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Skunk swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Skunk throws an elbow but it misses.
Zieg letting Skunk take a breather here.
Zieg lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Skunk backwards.
Skunk throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Ziegs head.
Skunk unloads a knee to the mid-section. Zieg lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Skunk throws a punch but it's blocked by Zieg.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Skunk tightens his grip and picks Zieg up, before dumping him to the ground. Zieg manages to land in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Skunk passes Zieg's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Skunk not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Skunk is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Zieg has managed to free his arm - good work.
Skunk not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Skunk landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Zieg blocking the ground and pound attempt from Skunk.

Skunk is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Skunk not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Skunk sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Zieg defending well though.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Skunk seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Skunk in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Zieg tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Skunk!
