PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Petit Jean Sainte Roche (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Angle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Sainte Roche might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Bob Bissonnette - La machine à scorer. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sainte Roche shoots in and gets a takedown into Angle's guard.
Sainte Roche is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Angle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Angle wants to hit a switch here but Sainte Roche passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Angle there!

Sainte Roche has hold of Angle's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Angle manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Sainte Roche jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Angle is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Angle and Sainte Roche has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Sainte Roche goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Angle has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Sainte Roche but great work by Angle.

Angle decides to stand back up. Angle steps back and let's Sainte Roche get back to his feet.
Sainte Roche will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Angle breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Sainte Roche drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Sainte Roche got a little sloppy there for a moment and Angle has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sainte Roche has managed to get both his arms back between Angle's legs - danger averted.

Sainte Roche drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Angle manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sainte Roche has Angle in his guard.

Sainte Roche isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Angle stacks Sainte Roche on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Angle!
Sainte Roche tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Angle wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
You can see the frustration on Sainte Roche's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sainte Roche is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Angle has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
