Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roger Lin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Paulo Stugatz!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Taro Takaoka and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stugatz moves into range and connects with a jab.

Stugatz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Lin lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Stugatz wants to get back to his feet but Lin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Stugatz wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Roger Lin wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Lin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Stugatz.
Lin takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Stugatz tries to land a front kick but Lin steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Lin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Stugatz as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roger Lin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stugatz throws a front kick that sends Lin stumbling back into the cage.
Stugatz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Lin takes the fight into the clinch.
Lin blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Lin manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Stugatz.

Stugatz breaks from the clinch.

Lin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Stugatz is looking for a sweep.

Lin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Stugatz tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lin creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Lin advances to full mount.
Stugatz in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Stugatz tries to lock up and control but Lin gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Lin with the ground and pound from mount.


It looks like Paulo Stugatz has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Stugatz is looking to escape.
Lin loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Stugatz scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Lin land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Lin stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roger Lin!
Roger Lin opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
