PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sean Mercer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taylor Elliott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sean Mercer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Taylor Elliott!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Paul Aken and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercer avoids the head kick by Elliott.
Mercer tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Elliott counters with a nice low kick that buckles Mercer's knee momentarily.
Mercer looks to score with a jab to the body but Elliott is just out of range.
Mercer throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Elliott looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Mercer wants to control but Elliott passes into side.
Elliott is staying tight to Mercer's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Elliott decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mercer to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mercer can't find room to land a body shot as Elliott controls the action.

Mercer manages to break the clinch.
Sean Mercer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Elliott closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Elliott tries to break free but Mercer pushes him back against the cage.
Mercer trying to stall but Elliott improves his position.
Mercer avoiding damage as Elliott throws knees to the body.
Mercer throws a punch but it's blocked by Elliott.
Mercer misses with a punch to the body.
Mercer throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Elliotts head.
Elliott tries to throw a body punch but Mercer avoids it by throwing Elliott back against the cage.
Elliott is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Elliott goes for a takedown in the clinch but Mercer prevents it.

Elliott wants the takedown. Mercer is fighting it off but Elliott persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Mercer's guard against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Elliott stands up and waves to Mercer to follow him.
Elliott fails with a takedown attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Elliott shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mercer defends it nicely.
Sean Mercer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Taylor Elliott.
Elliott throws a wild body kick that Mercer sees coming a mile off.
Mercer looks to score with a jab to the body but Elliott is just out of range.

Elliott shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Elliott was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Elliott just content to control the position.
Mercer tries to buck Elliott off but Elliott is having none of it.
Mercer is working hard here to advance position.
Mercer tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Elliott presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mercer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Elliott controlling the pace for now.
Elliott lands with some strikes.
Elliott takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mercer can't escape the position.

Elliott is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Taylor Elliott dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Elliott will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mercer tries to clinch up but Elliott circles away and keeps his distance.
Elliott lands a glancing blow to the side of Mercer's head.
Elliott avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mercer throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Mercer wants to clinch but Elliott slips to the side

and Elliott counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mercer's guard now.
Mercer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mercer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Elliott on the ground.

Elliott gets to his feet - Mercer follows without any prompting.

Elliott closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Elliott lands in his opponent's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Elliott thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Elliott scoring with some ground and pound.
Mercer has momentary wrist control but Elliott slips an elbow through the middle.
Mercer looking for a sweep. Not yet Mercer, not yet.
Mercer is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Elliott works a leg free and moves into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Elliott looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Elliott drops an elbow to the side of Mercer's head.

Elliott is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Elliott in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Mercer tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Elliott!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Taylor Elliott!
Taylor Elliott decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
