PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chad Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zesbis Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alvarez kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Flor Rida. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Zesbis Silva!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Emerson Jorge and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Alvarez backs up against the cage.
Alvarez fails with the takedown
and Silva counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

and Silva holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Silva is pressed up against the cage. Alvarez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Silva down to the mat. Silva avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Alvarez is trying to reverse the position but instead Silva has taken his back - oops!

Alvarez is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Academia Ipanema that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Silva has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Alvarez has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Silva thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Our spies down at at Beast farming inform us that Silva has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Chad Alvarez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Silva passes Alvarez's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Silva tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Alvarez.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Zesbis Silva wasn't active enough on the ground.
Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Alvarez circles away.
Alvarez doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Silva counters with a left to the body.
Silva scores with a head kick.


It looks like Chad Alvarez has been cut.
Alvarez fails with the takedown
and Silva counters with a two punch combo.
Alvarez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Silva counters with a thumping low kick.
Chad Alvarez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


Alvarez is rocked!

Silva looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Oh Alvarez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Silva passes to side control.

Silva stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Silva lands a brutal head kick. Alvarez looks out on his feet and Silva throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). Zesbis Silva!
During a confident post fight interview, Zesbis Silva thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
