PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Teijo Tarzan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spencer Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Teijo Tarzan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Spencer Fisher!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fisher dives in and scores a takedown into Tarzan's guard.
Fisher trying to control the position from guard on top but Tarzan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fisher throws a big elbow that misses.
Fisher stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tarzan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Tarzan wants to stand and escape but Fisher is having none of it.
Fisher missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Fisher won't allow Tarzan to get back to his feet.
Fisher lands a couple of digs.
Tarzan working a defensive guard here.
Fisher tries to free his leg and advance position but Tarzan is retaining full guard.

Tarzan scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Tarzan gets tackled into the cage by Fisher. Fisher maintains the clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Fisher has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Tarzan stops a takedown attempt from Fisher.

Tarzan manages to break the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fisher moves to clinch but Tarzan breaks away
and Tarzan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Spencer Fisher has been cut.

Fisher darts in and clinches Tarzan up against the cage.
Fisher drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Fisher is trying to pull guard but Tarzan turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Teijo Tarzan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Spencer Fisher.
Tarzan tries to break free but Fisher pushes him back against the cage.
Tarzan tries to break the clinch but Fisher is controlling the position.

Fisher manages to pull guard.
Fisher looking to control.
Tarzan tries to stand but Fisher is controlling from the bottom.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fisher looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tarzan is one step ahead there.
Fisher has a closed guard, preventing Tarzan from standing up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tarzan trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Fisher wants to stand but Tarzan is controlling the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
A slow jab from Tarzan misses its intended target.
Spencer Fisher seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fisher fails in his attempt to clinch.
Fisher wants to clinch.
Fisher tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Tarzan paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Teijo Tarzan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fisher has a takedown stuffed.
Tarzan comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Tarzan throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Fisher tries to bum rush Tarzan with a series of wild strikes but Tarzan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Tarzan scores with a punch to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Fisher scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Tarzan doesn't seem bothered though.
Fisher uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Tarzan.
Fisher fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Fisher doesn't manage to clinch there - Tarzan circles away.
Fisher shoots in for a takedown but Tarzan shows good takedown defense.
Fisher looks winded!

Tarzan lands a left and a right that send Fisher crashing to the mat, dazed. Tarzan thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Fisher is rocked!
Tarzan darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Fisher's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Tarzan before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Teijo Tarzan!
Teijo Tarzan seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
