Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jon Fitch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Fitch might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Till I Collapse- Eminem. David Taylor has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jon Fitch's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Fitch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Taylor !
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fitch misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Taylor counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Taylor trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Fitch controlling the position.
Fitch looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Fitch is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Taylor tries to free his leg and advance position but Fitch is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Taylor throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Fitch works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Fitch is pulling down on Taylor 's head. It's preventing any offense from Taylor , at least for the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Fitch throws an off balance right hand

and Taylor counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fitch's guard now.
Fitch bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Taylor 's guard.
Taylor is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Taylor has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Fitch throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Fitch wants to control from the top but Taylor keeps moving.

Fitch wanted to stand there but Taylor had control of the position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Taylor ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fitch moves away.
Fitch misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Taylor .

Fitch looks to land a left hand but Taylor moved out of range nicely.
Fitch throws a hook but Taylor blocks it.

Taylor moves away from the strike by Fitch.
Fitch misses with a straight left.
Fitch throws a jab when Taylor was well out of range.
Fitch takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Taylor closes the distance and clinches up with Fitch, looking for a takedown. Taylor pushes Fitch against the cage but Fitch circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Taylor lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Fitch takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Fitch misses with a looping right.
Taylor lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Fitch takes one on the button.
Fitch walks into a left hand.
Fitch throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Fitch looks to land a right hand but Taylor moved out of range.

Fitch swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Fitch swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Taylor gets the takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fitch manages to get back to half guard.
My spies in Stockton Cardio inform me that Taylor has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Taylor is trying to control. Fitch wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Fitch is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Fitch is not content to let Taylor control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Taylor creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Fitch sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Taylor has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Fitch!
Fitch wants to control but Taylor is having none of it.

Fitch makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Fitch.
Taylor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fitch swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Taylor is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Taylor lands a couple of digs.
Taylor throws a big right hand that misses.
Fitch keeping moving, preventing Taylor from controlling successfully.
Fitch controls Taylor momentarily but Taylor frees himself.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Taylor controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

David Taylor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Taylor cracks Fitch with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Fitch looks to throw the jab but Taylor is out of range.
Fitch fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Taylor looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Fitch steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Taylor .

and Taylor counters with a nice double leg into side control. Fitch won't be happy with that.
Taylor creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Fitch sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Taylor working the ground and pound but Fitch is defending the strikes.
Fitch is looking for a sweep.
The ground and pound from Taylor seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The strikes coming from Taylor are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Taylor misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Taylor tries to move into full mount but can't pass Fitch's legs.

Fitch managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Taylor .
Fitch takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Fitch is not content to let Taylor control the position.
Fitch prevents Taylor from moving into mount.
Taylor in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Taylor wants to control but Fitch is keeping him busy.
David Taylor has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fitch is looking for a sweep.
Jon Fitch has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
David Taylor is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Taylor 's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Fitch is trying to control Taylor 's posture but Taylor avoids it.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Fitch keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Fitch moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Fitch's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Taylor connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Fitch scrambles back to his feet.
Fitch takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Jon Fitch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Taylor shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Fitch manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Taylor slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fitch looking to control.
Taylor stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fitch swivels though and keeps the full guard.

David Taylor comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Taylor has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
