Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Akiyama Shinichi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terrell Suggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Terrell Suggs will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Akiyama Shinichi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Terrell Suggs!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suggs scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Suggs throws a leg kick but Shinichi sees it coming and moves out of range.
Suggs scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Suggs misses with a straight left.
Shinichi looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Shinichi has Suggs up against the cage in a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shinichi tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Suggs is pressed up against the cage. Shinichi has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Suggs down to the mat. Suggs avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Suggs throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Shinichi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Suggs's waist but Suggs gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shinichi off to one side.
Suggs's coach down at Men of Mayhem (1 TPL, 6 DBL, 5 SGL)(50 member cap) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Suggs's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Shinichi ducks under a wild hook from Suggs.
Shinichi has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Shinichi there as he acknowledges the shot.
Shinichi on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Shinichi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Suggs's waist but Suggs gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shinichi off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Akiyama Shinichi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Suggs lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Shinichi shoots in but no luck this time.
Suggs scores with a nice right hand.

Shinichi tries for a takedown but Suggs sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Shinichi keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Shinichi dodges the punch combination from Suggs.
Terrell Suggs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shinichi goes for a double leg but Suggs avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Suggs continues to drive forward.

Suggs's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Suggs avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Shinichi gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Suggs.
Suggs throws a body kick that misses.
Shinichi blocks a leg kick.
Suggs cracks Shinichi with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Nice takedown defense from Suggs. No joy for Shinichi on that attempt.
Suggs misses with a body kick.
Terrell Suggs is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Suggs throws a nice looking combination but Shinichi bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Shinichi goes for a double leg but Suggs avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Suggs continues to drive forward.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Shinichi tightens his grip and picks Suggs up, before dumping him to the ground. Suggs manages to land in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Suggs controls Shinichi momentarily but Shinichi frees himself.
Shinichi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Shinichi advances to half guard.
Shinichi trying to control the action but Suggs is working from the bottom.
Shinichi prevents Suggs from improving his position.

Shinichi is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Shinichi takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Suggs is looking to escape.
Shinichi tries to pass to full mount but Suggs defends it.
Suggs is positioning himself well to prevent Shinichi advancing to mount.
Suggs tries to kick Shinichi off but Shinichi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Shinichi trying to control from half guard but Suggs is working away.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Good standup being displayed there by Suggs as he connects with a hook.
Suggs will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Suggs has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Suggs throws a chopping leg kick but Shinichi manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Suggs is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.

Suggs throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Shinichi tries to clinch there but Suggs circles away.
Suggs displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Shinichi.
Suggs throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shinichi.
Suggs lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Suggs lands the left hand.
Shinichi shoots in and drives through. Suggs sprawls well.
The fighters circling - Suggs throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Shinichi has a takedown stuffed.
Shinichi tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Suggs defends well and Shinichi ends up having to push Suggs into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Terrell Suggs dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Suggs fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shinichi manages to avoid it.
Shinichi shoots in for a double leg but Suggs sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Suggs throws a big shot that misses.
Suggs moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Suggs misses the jab.
Terrell Suggs is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Suggs throws a hook but Shinichi avoids it easily.
Suggs swings for the body but Shinichi moves out of range.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Suggs connects with a nice looking jab.
Shinichi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Suggs as he jumps to the side.
Shinichi tries to work over Suggs's front leg with a kick but Suggs checks it.
Horrible takedown by Shinichi or perhaps it was just good defense by Suggs which made him look bad.

Shinichi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Suggs swivels and escapes.
Shinichi closes the distance and clinches up with Suggs, looking for a takedown. Shinichi pushes Suggs against the cage but Suggs circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Shinichi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Shinichi ducks under a wild hook from Suggs.
Suggs throws out a powerful jab.

Shinichi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Shinichi trying to control the action but Suggs is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Suggs is trying to stand and escape here. He's got onto all fours but that's just let Shinichi take his back! Uh oh - Shinichi has got a rear naked choke here! Suggs is forced to tap! It's all over! One monent is all it takes in this sport!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Akiyama Shinichi!
In his post fight interview, Akiyama Shinichi started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
