PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Adam McGrath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dewayne Bryant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dewayne Bryant is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam McGrath!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dewayne Bryant!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bryant stuffs the takedown attempt from McGrath. McGrath gets slowly back to his feet.

Bryant feints and as McGrath raises his hands in defense, Bryant changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
McGrath looking for a sweep. Not yet McGrath, not yet.
Bryant distracts McGrath with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

McGrath has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bryant is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for McGrath.
McGrath tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bryant wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Bryant is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Bryant is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but McGrath is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
McGrath being controlled for a moment.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McGrath is trying to improve his position.

A lull in the action here as Bryant stalls from top position.
Bryant trying to control the position but McGrath is working away.
Bryant in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
McGrath tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bryant wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Bryant controls the position.
McGrath tries to improve position but can't.
Bryant scores with a couple of short elbows.
Bryant trying to control the position but McGrath is working away.
McGrath is looking for a sweep.
You can see the frustration on McGrath's face as Bryant controls the position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
McGrath tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bryant thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

McGrath looking for a sweep but Bryant has passed into full mount! Oh no!
McGrath is desperately trying to improve his position but Bryant has a good base and remains in mount.
McGrath is working hard here to advance position.
Bryant controlling from the full mount.
McGrath slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Bryant is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, McGrath has managed to free his arm - good work.
Bryant wants to lay and pray for a moment but McGrath keeps working.
Bryant content to control rather than advance.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
McGrath is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Bryant not doing much here.
McGrath makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McGrath.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bryant content to stall in guard here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Dewayne Bryant was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Bryant closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
McGrath is trying to work for a sweep but Bryant has mounted him!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bryant controlling the pace for now.
McGrath is wriggling around trying to escape.
Bryant controlling his opponent.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Bryant prevents McGrath from getting the reversal.
McGrath in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Bryant controlling the position easily from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dewayne Bryant dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Bryant shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in McGrath's guard.
Bryant stands and throws McGrath's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Bryant is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McGrath knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
McGrath is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Bryant moves into full mount!
Bryant lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bryant pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Bryant has control of McGrath's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and McGrath regains control of the situation pretty easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McGrath is looking to improve his position but Bryant isn't that keen on the idea.
Dewayne Bryant has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bryant wants to control the pace but McGrath is squirming around nicely.
Bryant prevents McGrath from getting the reversal.

Bryant working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. McGrath looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Bryant! Submission of the night perhaps?

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Dewayne Bryant!
A less than humble Dewayne Bryant misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
