Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gypo Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Davies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dean Davies looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gypo Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dean Davies!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Thiago Cunha and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davies stuffs the takedown.

Davies drives through and clinches with Williams against the cage.

Davies has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Williams uses from the top position.

Davies parries the strikes from Williams easily there. Williams is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Davies to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams tries to move to mount but Davies blocks the move with his legs.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Williams wants to get back to full guard.

Williams has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Williams moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Davies scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Williams wants to get back to his feet but Davies drags him back down.
Davies advances nicely into full mount.
Davies manages to capitalize on a mistake by Williams to take his back!

Davies has Williams flattened out and is raining down punches.
Williams just trying to survive but Davies is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Williams looking very determined here, making life difficult for Davies.
Davies slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Davies really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Williams. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Williams rolls, trying to escape but Davies keeps control of the position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Williams trying to get back to his feet but Davies is in full control for now.
Davies doesn't have the hooks in and Williams manages to turn into his guard.
Williams working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Davies drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Williams is trying to buck Davies off.
Davies creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Williams sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Davies stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Williams has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Williams has his takedown stuffed
and Davies counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Williams ducks right into an uppercut from Davies.

Davies closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Williams misses with the head strike.
Williams changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Davies fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Davies scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Davies bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Davies lands an elbow.
Williams pushes Davies away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Davies gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Williams keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Davies is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Davies working over Williams with some ground and pound. Williams looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Williams is not content to let Davies control the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Davies is stalling here. Williams is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Davies seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Williams has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Davies sneaks out the side door and pushes Williams away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

and Davies holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Williams has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Davies is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Williams shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Williams lands with a punch from half guard.
Davies is not content to let Williams control the position.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Davies. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Williams uses his free foot to push down on Davies's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Davies.

Williams takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Williams is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Williams lands a nice short elbow.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Williams connects with a nice short shot to Davies's temple.

and Davies counters with a left and a right that stings Williams.

and Davies counters with a good low kick that Williams was not able to check.

Williams regains full guard. Nicely done.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Williams wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Dean Davies comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Davies has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
