Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Mcbride (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Julio Acosta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Julio Acosta has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Charlie Mcbride!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julio Acosta!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Thiago Cunha and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Acosta, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mcbride looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Acosta is fending him off so far but Mcbride persists. Nope, Acosta circles away and we're back to standing.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Acosta tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Mcbride's elbow.

Acosta gets control of Mcbride's arms and successfully pulls guard. Acosta will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Mcbride gets tackled into the cage by Acosta. Acosta maintains the clinch.
Acosta digs a right hand underneath Mcbride's ribcage. Mcbride let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Acosta tries for a takedown but Mcbride manages to get underhooks.
Acosta tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Mcbride jumps guard and drags Acosta to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A close round but Julio Acosta will probably get the nod.

Acosta looks to clinch

and Mcbride holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Acosta is trying to drag Mcbride to the mat but Mcbride just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Acosta has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Mcbride avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Mcbride is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Acosta is defending well.

A looping hook to the body misses from Mcbride. Acosta does a little dance to reset his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Acosta closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Acosta fails to land the takedown.
Mcbride shoots in looking for a takedown. Acosta tries to sprawl out of it but Mcbride keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Acosta manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mcbride shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Acosta but Acosta pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mcbride dives in for a single leg takedown but Acosta sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Acosta jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Mcbride walks away with a smile on his face. Acosta gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Acosta bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Acosta has hold of Mcbride's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Mcbride manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Julio Acosta is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Mcbride is desperately trying to improve his position but Acosta has a good base and remains in mount.

Julio Acosta comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Acosta has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
