PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taylor Elliott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jones might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to In The End-Linkin Park. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jon Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Taylor Elliott!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Wagner Zegers and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Elliott closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Elliott as Jones tries to tie him up.

Elliott pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jones throws a combination. Elliott tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Taylor Elliott has been cut.

Elliott decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Elliott passes into side control, despite Jones's attempt to control the position.
Jones tries to bench press Elliott off him but Elliott keeps the position.
Elliott sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Jones is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Elliott stands up and beckons Jones to his feet.

Jones throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Elliott decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Elliott looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Jones wants to control but Elliott is keeping busy.
Jones wants to control the action here but instead Elliott manages to pass to full mount!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Elliott prevents Jones from standing back up.

Elliott decides to return to a standing position.
Jones falls off balance throwing a combination

and Elliott counters by clinching up.

Elliott breaks from the clinch.

Elliott bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Elliott tries to advance to mount but can't.
Jones being controlled for a moment.

Jones regains half guard.

Elliott postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Jones to stand up.
Elliott showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Jones.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Some wild striking there from Jones.
Elliott throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Jones misses with the combination.
Jones fails to land the takedown.

Elliott clinches.
Jones has had enough of the clinch but Elliott keeps him there for the moment.

Elliott pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Elliott gets the takedown into side control.
Elliott works to advance to full mount. Jones defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Elliott is working for a guillotine from mount but Jones frees his head quite easily.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Jones gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Elliott to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Elliott's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Elliott stands and throws Jones's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Elliott looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Elliott tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Jones is trying to improve his position.

Elliott wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jones, who protects the arm well.
Jones is letting Elliott control him for a moment.
Jones is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Elliott working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Elliott stands up and beckons Jones to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Jones on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Elliott manages to pull guard.
Jones throws an elbow that misses. Elliott uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jones's guard. Nice move by Elliott!

Taylor Elliott has got the better of the ground game so far.

Elliott stands up from Jones's guard - Elliott perhaps looking for a knockout.
Jones misses with a takedown

and Elliott counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Elliott.
Elliott stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Elliott escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jones shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Jones wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Jones tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Elliott gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Jones regains guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Elliott decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jones, up you get!
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Elliott circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jones misses with a series of wild punches.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Elliott will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Taylor Elliott showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Elliott decides to stand up, so the ref orders Jones to his feet.
Elliott shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side.
Jones throws a head kick that misses.

Elliott keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jones's efforts to push away.
Elliott throws an elbow that misses.

Jones is trying to break the clinch but Elliott has him pressed against the cage.

Elliott has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jones uses from the top position.

Elliott had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jones defends it easily.
Jones with a flurry of punches that miss.
Jones in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Elliott wriggles free and stands up.
Elliott tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jones swivels and escapes.

Jon Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Taylor Elliott.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jones is on top in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Elliott avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Elliott is trying to keep Jones in close.
Jones postures up in Elliott's guard and throws a big left but Elliott blocks it.
Jones throws a strike but Elliott rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Elliott is pushing down on Jones's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jones is fighting to maintain full guard but Elliott has managed to sneak the leg through.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Elliott not doing much here.
Let's hope that Elliott has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Elliott lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Elliott is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Jones has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Elliott is working away from the top position though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Taylor Elliott comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Elliott winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
