Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Setta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Runner Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marcus Setta!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Runner Jay!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Setta is looking to clinch but Jay is avoiding it.
Setta listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Setta misses with a kick to the body.

Setta moves into the clinch successfully.
Setta prevents the takedown attempt.
Setta throws a knee to the head but misses.

Jay ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Jay no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Setta's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

It looks like Runner Jay has been cut.

Jay stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jay wants it to stay on the feet.
Setta scores with a head kick. Jay tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

and Jay counters by clinching up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jay can do anything to dispel that myth.

Jay manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Setta manages to get himself to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Setta looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jay is one step ahead there.

Jay chips away with some ground and pound.
Jay is working Setta over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Jay wants to pass the guard but Setta is keeping the position.
Setta utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Jay stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Setta swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jay forces his way into half guard.
Setta keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jay scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Setta is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jay is pressing down on Setta's thigh, looking to free his foot. Setta is holding on for now.

Setta is looking to escape.
Setta is breathing heavily.

Jay is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Setta is just riding it out for now. Jay eventually gives up the hold.
Jay looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Setta with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Jay frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

It looks like Marcus Setta has been cut.
Jay breaks from Setta's wrist control and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Runner Jay will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Setta moves in looking to clinch but Jay pushes him off.
Jay has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Jay swats away the attempt to clinch by Setta.
Setta lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jay circles away quickly and effectively.
Setta tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Jay counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Setta's guard now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jay is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Setta is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Setta has escaped and now he's on top!

Jay escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Setta gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Jay has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Setta wants to stand but Jay has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Setta won't allow Jay to sweep him here.

Jay is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Setta defends well.

Jay looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Setta passes into side control.
Jay is breathing heavily.
Setta wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jay keeps working.
Jay is looking to regain half guard here but Setta keeps moving and retains side control.
Setta wants to stand but Jay has his arm trapped.
Jay is trying to improve his position.
Jay is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Setta's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Jay is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Setta takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Jay wants to sweep but Setta has passed to side control!
Setta is looking to take a break and control but Jay is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jay manages to work his way to half guard, despite Setta's best efforts.
Jay is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Setta's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Setta's back!

Jay is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Runner Jay showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Jay gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Setta regains guard.
Jay throws an elbow that misses. Setta uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jay's guard. Nice move by Setta!

Jay has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Jay there as he acknowledges the shot.

Nice sprawl there from Jay as Setta shoots in.

Jay has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Setta.

Setta swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jay leaves Setta with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jay manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Jay manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Setta manages to get himself to full guard.

Jay drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jay jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Setta is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jay is controlling him.
Jay keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Setta's head.

Jay cracks Setta with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Jay moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Setta has worked his arm free - good work by Setta!

Jay wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Setta, who protects the arm well.
Jay tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Runner Jay comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Jay winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
