PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Santiago Duffy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Dogg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Santiago Duffy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jay Dogg!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Dogg, right into the meat.
Nice takedown defense from Dogg. No joy for Duffy on that attempt.
Duffy slaps away a takedown attempt from Dogg, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Duffy lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Duffy misses with a takedown

and Dogg counters with a crisp one two that drops Duffy! Dogg thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Duffy to his feet! Duffy is in big trouble!
Jay Dogg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dogg gets a clinch.
Duffy has Dogg pressed against the cage.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Knees to the body from Duffy.
Dogg unloads a knee to the mid-section. Duffy lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Dogg is struggling to control the position.

Dogg breaks the clinch.

Duffy gets tackled into the cage by Dogg. Dogg maintains the clinch.

Dogg gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Duffy regains guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Dogg is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dogg trying to control the position from guard on top but Duffy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Duffy is controlling Dogg's posture.
Duffy throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Dogg wants to pass the guard but Duffy is keeping the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jay Dogg was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Dogg scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Duffy tries to improve position but can't.
Dogg wants to control but Duffy is keeping him busy.
I wouldn't like to be where Duffy is right now.

Dogg is trying to get an arm triangle but Duffy is defending well.
Dogg wants to stand but Duffy is controlling his arm.
Duffy wants to control but Dogg postures up.
Duffy is not content to let Dogg control the position.
Duffy is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Dogg tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dogg has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Duffy manages to get back to half guard.
Duffy is trying to stand.
Duffy is breathing heavily.
Dogg looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Duffy tries to kick Dogg off but Dogg keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Dogg wants to free his trapped foot but Duffy is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Duffy wants to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Dogg is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Duffy gets full guard.
Duffy keeping moving, preventing Dogg from controlling successfully.
Duffy tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Duffy is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dogg is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jay Dogg dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Dogg tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Duffy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Duffy lands with a shot to the body.
Duffy dives in and grabs Dogg's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dogg pushes down on Duffy's head and hops out.
Jay Dogg seems to be getting the better of the standup.

so Dogg counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Dogg trying to control but Duffy is working from the bottom.
Duffy has a closed guard, preventing Dogg from standing up.
Duffy wants to get back to his feet but Dogg is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Dogg tries to stand but Duffy is controlling from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dogg with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Dogg slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Duffy controls Dogg momentarily but Dogg frees himself.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Dogg shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Duffy is trying to defend but Dogg finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Duffy is trying to get back to full guard.
Duffy trying to control from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duffy is concentrating on defense, preventing Dogg from advancing position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Duffy moves into full guard.
Duffy trying to control the position here.
Jay Dogg has got the better of the ground game so far.
Duffy wants to stand up but Dogg is controlling him.
Dogg trying to control but Duffy is working from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Duffy with a poor takedown
and Dogg counters with a series of strikes. Duffy will be more careful next time no doubt.


Duffy is rocked!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Santiago Duffy. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Dogg gets a big slam - oh, Duffy is out! Duffy is out! That's a nasty KO!
