PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keijo Harkimo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Restin Peace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Restin Peace told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Keijo Harkimo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Restin Peace!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Glass and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peace misses with a wild body shot.

Peace catches Harkimo with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Peace thows a body shot but no joy.

Peace throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Harkimo was covering up waiting for the punch and Peace finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Harkimo wants to sweep here but Peace controlling him for the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harkimo is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Peace passes Harkimo's left leg - he's now in half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Peace rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Harkimo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Harkimo tries to land a front kick but Peace steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
No luck for Peace with that takedown attempt.
Harkimo displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Peace throws out the jab.

Peace on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Peace throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Harkimo sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Peace throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Harkimo's waist but Harkimo gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Peace off to one side.
Keijo Harkimo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Restin Peace.
Peace is breathing heavily.
Peace shoots for a double leg takedown but Harkimo sprawls well. He's pushed Peace's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Harkimo throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Donk. Harkimo catches Peace right on the button with a cross.
Harkimo connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Harkimo feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Peace's calf.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Harkimo fakes the leg kick and cracks Peace in the body.

A nice left hand lands by Peace.
Peace is looking for a takedown.
Harkimo lands a left hand that snaps the head of Peace backwards.
Peace has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Harkimo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Harkimo mutters something to Peace before pushing him back against the cage. As Peace comes back towards him, Harkimo unloads a hook from the very depths of hell that knocks Peace clean out! Oh. My. God. That is some seriously brutal stuff right there! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Keijo Harkimo!
Keijo Harkimo decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
