The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grushevky tries to bum rush Sever with a series of wild strikes but Sever uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Sever fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Grushevky to the ground. Sever is now in Grushevky's guard.

Grushevky has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sever can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Grushevky working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sever doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sever manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sever tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sever has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Grushevky is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Sever is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Sever seems to be working for a kimura but Grushevky defends the submission attempt.
Sever really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Grushevky. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
