The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammond fails with a takedown attempt.
Hammond lands the left hand.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hammond.
Leslie stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fermin Hammond. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hammond tries a head kick but it misses.
Leslie displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hammond.
Fermin Hammond seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hammond closes the distance looking to clinch

and Leslie counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Leslie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Leslie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Hammond throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Leslie drops back looking for a leg! Hammond is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hammond manages to kick Leslie off! Leslie jumps back into Hammond's guard.

Leslie has gone for a leg lock! Hammond slips out almost immediately though and dives into Leslie's guard.
Hammond wants to get up but he can't break Leslie's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hammond looking to sit in guard and control but Leslie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Leslie is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hammond is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hammond has escaped and now he's on top!
Hammond trying to control the position from guard on top but Leslie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hammond stands up from Leslie's guard - Hammond perhaps looking for a knockout.
Nice body kick there by Hammond.

Hammond shoots for a takedown but Leslie saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Leslie takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Hammond shoots in looking for a takedown but Leslie manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hammond's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Leslie avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hammond shoots for a double leg takedown but Leslie sprawls well. He's pushed Hammond's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Leslie decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hammond's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Leslie drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Leslie as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Hammond screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Leslie! Nice submission victory there!
