Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Xander Hogsback!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Estes!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Eddie Farnsworth and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogsback has a takedown stuffed.

Estes closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hogsback quickly recovers to half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Estes performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Estes is keen to just control but Hogsback is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jason Estes hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Estes has control of an arm but Hogsback manages to advance to Estes's back!
Hogsback is trying to stick to Estes's back but Estes is turning into Hogsback. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Hogsback's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Estes.
Estes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hogsback works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Hogsback looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Estes puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Hogsback has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Estes is working away from the top position though.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hogsback shoots in but no luck this time.
Estes keeps the fight on the outside.
Hogsback tries to clinch up but Estes circles away and keeps his distance.
Estes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hogsback tries to avoid it but Estes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hogsback to the ground. Hogsback escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hogsback uses his free foot to push down on Estes's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Estes.
Hogsback can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Estes is looking to escape.
Estes is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Hogsback tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Xander Hogsback has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hogsback lands a nice short elbow.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Xander Hogsback.
Well Estes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
