PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Carnegie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Louie Lawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andrew Carnegie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Louie Lawler!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawler dives in and grabs Carnegie's left leg, looking for a takedown. Carnegie pushes down on Lawler's head and hops out.
Lawler throws a sloppy head kick and Carnegie moves out of range easily.
Lawler leaves Carnegie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Carnegie changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lawler tries to avoid it but Carnegie manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lawler to the ground. Lawler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Carnegie drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Carnegie thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Lawler is trying to buck Carnegie off.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lawler is trying to control Carnegie's posture but Carnegie avoids it.

Lawler tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Carnegie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Carnegie shoots in for a double leg but Lawler sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Carnegie goes for a double leg but Lawler avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Lawler continues to drive forward.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carnegie changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lawler tries to avoid it but Carnegie manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lawler to the ground. Lawler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lawler shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Lawler gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Andrew Carnegie will probably get the nod.

We're going to have a standup here because Andrew Carnegie wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Carnegie avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Louie Lawler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Lawler moves into range and connects with a jab.
Lawler goes for a double leg but Carnegie avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Carnegie continues to drive forward.

Lawler feints and as Carnegie raises his hands in defense, Lawler changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lawler wants to get up but he can't break Carnegie's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Louie Lawler has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Carnegie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lawler's waist but Lawler gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Carnegie off to one side.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Carnegie shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lawler but Lawler pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Louie Lawler comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lawler has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
