Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Denny Serrano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Dan Severn!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Severn lands with a right hand.
Serrano misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Serrano tries to clinch there but Severn circles away.
Serrano on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Serrano shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Severn but Severn pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Serrano lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Severn dodges the punch combination from Serrano.
A slow jab from Serrano misses its intended target.
A clash of legs there as Severn blocks the low kick.
Severn scores with a nice right hand.
Severn connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Severn swings for the body but Serrano moves out of range.
Serrano defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Severn.
Serrano gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Severn.

Severn looks to land a combination but Serrano avoids it well.
Serrano fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Severn shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Serrano on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Serrano tries to get out of the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Serrano gets full guard.
Severn throws a strike but Serrano rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Serrano advances position into side control!

Serrano wants to stand but Severn is controlling his arm.
Severn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Serrano. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Severn tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Serrano trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Severn wants to try and get back to his feet.

Serrano is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Severn to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Severn shrugs it off.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Severn squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Serrano has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Severn's face.
Serrano controlling the pace for now.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Serrano throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Severn because Serrano loaded up on that one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Denny Serrano will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Serrano moves in looking to clinch but Severn pushes him off.

and Serrano counters with a left and a right that stings Severn.

Serrano closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Severn quickly recovers to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Serrano tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Ground and pound from Serrano.
Serrano is controlling the pace.

Serrano trying to mount his opponent but Severn defends it.
Serrano trying to control from half guard but Severn is working away.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Serrano wants to stand but Severn has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Serrano is controlling the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Denny Serrano wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Serrano has closed the distance and engaged Severn in a clinch.
Severn is looking for a takedown.

Serrano pulls Severn into guard.
Serrano is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Serrano pulls Severn in close to prevent any damage.
Severn trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Severn throws an elbow that misses. Serrano uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Severn's guard. Nice move by Serrano!
Serrano passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Serrano creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Severn sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Severn parries the strikes from Serrano easily there. Serrano is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Severn to escape.

Serrano swings around for an armbar but Severn sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Serrano's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Severn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Serrano controls Severn momentarily but Severn frees himself.

Serrano working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Severn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Severn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Severn wants to control from the top but Serrano keeps moving.
Serrano has control of Severn's left arm, preventing Severn from doing any damage.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Serrano is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Denny Serrano dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Severn drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Severn trying to control the action but Serrano is working from the bottom.
Severn working the ground and pound but Serrano is defending the strikes.
Severn lands an elbow.
Denny Serrano overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Serrano manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Serrano uses his free foot to push down on Severn's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Severn.

Serrano is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Severn can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Serrano looking to control but Severn is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Severn is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Serrano with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Severn is trying to stand but he's just given Serrano his back.
Severn prevents Serrano from getting a body triangle.
Serrano is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Severn is keeping busy.
Serrano is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Severn. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Dan Severn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Serrano tries to get the hooks in deep but Severn pushed the leg off.
Serrano controlling the position well here. Severn rolled but Serrano kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Denny Serrano is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Serrano, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
