Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Opie River (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Perus Jamppa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). River comes to the cage accompanied by Skillet - Monster . Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Opie River!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Perus Jamppa!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jamppa is looking to score with low kicks.
River shoots in looking for a takedown. Jamppa tries to sprawl out of it but River keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jamppa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jamppa fails to land with a series of punches.
River misses with a hook. Jamppa ducked under it nicely.
Jamppa throws a combination but it was largely blocked by River.
River is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jamppa.
River scores with a jab to the head.
River throws a series of punches but Jamppa avoids them all with ease.
Jamppa is looking to clinch.
River scores with a body shot.
River definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
River avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

River moves into the clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

River goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Jamppa's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
River makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

River darts in looking for a takedown but Jamppa gets double underhooks and turns River into the cage.
River throws a punch but it's blocked by Jamppa.

Jamppa fakes high and swings low for a body shot but River manages to avoid it.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


River throws a lazy right hand but Jamppa sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Perus Jamppa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
River misses with an uppercut. Jamppa saw that one coming.
Opie River seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
River throws a leg kick which misses Jamppa's front leg but catches the back leg as Jamppa tries to avoid it.
A punch combination from Jamppa misses.
River lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
A combination from Jamppa does no damage.
River fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
River misses with a looping right.
Jamppa throws a combination but it was largely blocked by River.
Jamppa avoids the body shot from River.
Jamppa's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Jamppa duly obliges.

Jamppa throws a right and a left that River avoids nicely.
River swings for the body but Jamppa moves out of range.

Sloppy strikes from Jamppa. Those never looked like landing.
River throws out a loose jab but Jamppa uses good head movement to avoid it.
River throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

River tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jamppa was well out of range. Poor timing from River.

and Jamppa cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
River shoots in looking for a takedown. Jamppa tries to sprawl out of it but River keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jamppa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jamppa displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as River throws out the jab.

River bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jamppa has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

River is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jamppa has escaped the position, nice work there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jamppa wants to control but River postures up.

Jamppa wants to get back to his feet but River drags him back down.
Jamppa sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

River is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Jamppa wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

River in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Jamppa tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from River!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Opie River!
After winning the bout, Opie River thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
